Born in New York City of Puerto Rican descent, Alberto Díaz has been singing and performing on stage since age 5.  As a child, he sang at a local New York children’s television show, Wonderama.  As a member of his local Boys and Girls club Cadet Corps, Alberto performed on stage at the prestigious Waldorf Astoria Hotel.  By Age 12, he was playing bongos and singing with his father Ramon Díaz’ band, Trio Los Turpiales.

 During his college years, Alberto joined the City College of New York Latin Ensemble as a percussionist where he played and studied under the direction of noted Latin music arranger and composer, Mauricio Smith.  Alberto also gave many English music vocal performances in New York at prestigious venues such as the Apollo Theater, The Cotton Club, and Sweetwater’s.  His love of Salsa music and Latin percussion led him to form his Latin band, Conjunto Boriken with co-director Norberto Otero.

Alberto and his band gave many performances playing Salsa, Merengue and Bolero music throughout the "barrios" of New York sharing the stage with renowned Latin music artists and musicians like Pete “El Conde” Rodriguez, Mario Hernandez, Yomo Toro and Junior Gonzalez. Their most notable performance was as the opening act for famed Puerto Rican songstress Lucecita Benitez at El Teatro Puerto Rico, a renowned venue for many well-known Hispanic recording artists.  Alberto has done several recording projects with his band and others like Trio Los Fabulosos and Eddie Rosa y Renacer Trovero. 

Alberto currently resides in San Diego, California where he continues to showcase his talents on stage as a percussionist and vocalist.  He has performed with many Latin and Latin Jazz bands such as Charlie Chavez y Su AfroTruko, Jaime Valle, Piece by Peace, Prisa, Orquesta Primo, Fiebre, Orquesta Rico Tumbao, J.D. All Stars, The Zinchiladas, Latin Magic, Cachito y Su Son, Salsa Mocambo, Black Mambo, The Chévere All Stars, Son Pa Ti and is also the musical director of Sexteto Sonero Del Caribe, one of San Diego’s original Cuban music bands.
