Armando Silva - Trumpet

Armando Silva is originally from Phoenix, AZ and has played trumpet for over 27 years. In 2003, Armando joined the United States Marine Corps to serve his country and to play with the Marine Fleet Bands. As a US Marine he was a featured trumpet soloist and played with various ensembles. Armando also completed a tour in Afghanistan during 2010, where he was also nominated for “Marine Musician of the Year.” Once exiting the Marine Corps, he made San Diego his home and enrolled at San Diego State University to finish his Music Education degree. He plans to pursue a career as a Band Director and Freelance Trumpet Player.
 
He currently teaches at Sam Ash Music Stores as a Brass Instructor, Las Palmas Elementary as a Mariachi coach and private home lessons. Armando currently plays all genres of music and has played with many professional groups in San Diego. Mr Silva has played with the Gaslamp Quarter Jazz Orchestra, The Manny Cepeda Orchestra, Afro-Tuko and Black Mambo. Armando has also performed “The Westside Story” at Lambs Players Theatre and “The Loneliest Girl In The World” at the Diversionary Theatre. You can currently find Armando playing with Son Pa Ti, Sofa King Bueno and various other groups in San Diego. His smooth sounds can also be found, recorded on Joe Garrison’s “The Night People: Veranda” LP, 2009.
